Not Your Grandmother’s Homestead

Well, reckon it’s goodbye to Glory Gardens and a big ol’ howdy to berms and swales!

In these changing times, we stand firm against the current trends. We embrace a more biodynamic approach to gardening. We recognize the delicate balance of our community here in Dripping Springs, especially with the rising tide of new residents and the fragility of our water supply.

We've taken strides to harvest rainwater for both the Bunkhouse and The Painter's Studio, and we’re eager to extend these efforts to the Safari Tent and Barn Pavilion. Water is life, and we honor it.

We’re proud to partner with Symbiosis, a respected local permaculture company, along with the Hays County Master Naturalists, to ensure our projects not only succeed but thrive.

Our first project, 'The Butterfly Meadow,' is a testament to the beauty of nature and the bonds it forges. As you drive into our property, a vibrant meadow awaits, alive with butterflies, wildlife, and wildflowers. We’re cultivating this area into a stunning Texas prairie landscape, with a seasonal color palette that changes with the winds. To safeguard this natural treasure, we’re implementing erosion prevention measures—water diversion, culverts, and the planting of native trees to hold the earth.

In 2025, we will introduce 'The Bee Courtyard.' Here, our love for honey will take flight as we cultivate raw, organic honey with a European twist. This courtyard will feature elegant berms, sectioned-off areas for exploring different honey flavors—sweet and savory. Guests at The Painter's House will be enchanted by this honeyed haven, where nature and creativity blend.

Finally, in 2026 we add a 'Food Forest!' We will turn our attention to the land near the goat tower. Here, we’ll address erosion and prepare the way for our furry friends to return. Picture a rugged cactus garden welcoming you at the Bunkhouse, with a thriving permaculture food forest blooming in the back. It’s a space where life flourishes and stories unfold.

Join us on this journey as we weave together sustainability, beauty, and community in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
